Takara Chan and Lucy Thiess, volunteers from Australia, get their hands-on preparing and serving meals to adults and children in Buenos Aires. Our world is much better because of people like them!! Thank you very much!!!
I recently volunteered in Buenos Aires with my best friend for their community feeding project. The experience was very rewarding, working with the mothers in the kitchen. Despite us not knowing much Spanish, they were very accomodating and welcoming.
During the program you help prepare the meals by chopping up ingredients, grating the cheese, peeling potatoes etc. You then serve the meals to the people in the neighbourhood as they walk in the door. After we finished serving, we were always offered a generous meal by the ladies which we loved.
We felt some things were lost in translation between us and the volunteer coordinator, which was frustrating at times but of course it’s expected with a language and culture difference.
Overall we felt very safe all the time and the other people staying at the student hostel accomodation are absolutely lovely. – Lucy Thiess
Volunteer in Argentina helping to feed hundreds of people per day. Through this project you will be in direct contact with needy families by offering them a nice meal every day.
Volunteers are needed to cook, serve and talk to the 2,500 people that daily depend on this project to survive with some dignity. You are more than welcome to suggest any activity to help all these families, they will be very happy about it.

Sam and his girlfriend went to Ecuador, to save an Amazon Community, and found the people were beyond amazing:
So my girlfriend and I spent a week and a few days in a little village called Las Tolas. The people there were beyond amazing! They were happy, supportive and generally loved life. They were such a good and connected community. Everyone knew everyone!
The days off from work were awesome, as we got to go to little waterfalls with the village’s personal guide, Solomon. He was very insightful and knowledgeable about basically everything in the area. From the local humming birds to the different rocks on the side of the rivers. He knew every town, and seemingly every person that inhabited it.
Our family were overly happy to have us and we were overly happy to spent time with them. We worked hard during most days, out in different farms, but I wouldn’t have traded the views for anything. Jaw-dropping stuff. It was an insane trip and I would do it again in a heart beat! Thanks for every one at Iko Poran and Las Tolas organisations for making this happen. – Sam, 22 years, Melbourne
This charming country is one of the most bio-diverse countries in the World and offers some of the greatest wonders of nature. It is a very inexpensive country with great food and friendly people. Actually, Ecuadorians are the nation’s greatest treasure: kind, warm-hearted, tranquil and generous.
Iko Poran volunteers have a different mix of opportunities in this Amazon Community inside the Rain Forest. Volunteers may teach English, work in the vegetable gardens, in the medicinal plant section, plant trees on the re-forestation project, work in the plant nursery, work in the craft workshop, plant coffee trees and pick coffee beans, hand milk cows, create footpaths in the cloud forest, and much more. Volunteers have a very personal experience with a flexible approach, which guarantees that different volunteering activities can be chosen and tried during their placements.
All of this is complemented by a wide range of leisure activities.
Join us for the experience of your lifetime!!
My fiancé and I had an incredible experience volunteering in Argentina and now in Brazil. Our project in Buenos Aires was in a very special community of which we were welcomed with open arms. The family we worked alongside we now consider our own family!! Here in Rio doing sports development has been extremely rewarding and we are learning so much about this beautiful culture and even learning capoeira with the locals!! Felipe and his family have been SO accommodating & we are having a blast living with him and his beautiful fam! HIGHLY recommend all IKP programs :)!! – Lindsey Willis, USA
As a volunteer, you can participate in different campaigns during the year, according to the need of the community at that time.
Volunteers must be willing to participate in various activities that will arise – for example: sorting clothes, food, books, toys, etc, that come as a donation and distribute them. Moreover you can participate in children, youths and families inclusion projects or help to plan events for schools and communities, etc.
