Painting Signs for a School in Jaipur: Construction Volunteer Experience in India

Jakob and Aiden from Norway went to India as construction volunteers, in order to paint signs for a school in Jaipur. They say, they enjoy their stay, it is very hot and they wanted to explore life in India. Both were painting signs for the school, also with the contact information to bring around the word about the school. In the end, they were surprised, that India was much more developed than they had thought before. And last but no least, they young men from Norway made many friends!

Community Development – Volunteering in Argentina and now in Brazil

My fiancé and I had an incredible experience volunteering in Argentina and now in Brazil. Our project in Buenos Aires was in a very special community of which we were welcomed with open arms. The family we worked alongside we now consider our own family!! Here in Rio doing sports development has been extremely rewarding and we are learning so much about this beautiful culture and even learning capoeira with the locals!! Felipe and his family have been SO accommodating & we are having a blast living with him and his beautiful fam! HIGHLY recommend all IKP programs :)!! – Lindsey Willis, USA

About the Community Development Project in Buenos Aires

As a volunteer, you can participate in different campaigns during the year, according to the need of the community at that time.

Volunteers must be willing to participate in various activities that will arise – for example: sorting clothes, food, books, toys, etc, that come as a donation and distribute them. Moreover you can participate in children, youths and families inclusion projects or help to plan events for schools and communities, etc.

Volunteering in Uganda on Construction – Zach Luster

“This is an experience that will hold forever. I was able to bring water to those in need.” – Zach Luster, volunteering in Uganda

Construction and Renovation Volunteer Programs in Uganda

Volunteer in Uganda in our construction and renovation programs. Although Uganda is endowed with abundance of natural resources, it remains a least developed country, with the lowest indicators of socio-economic development, due to extensive political and social corruption, and extreme poverty. The most affected population is the majority Ugandans who live in rural areas with poor infrastructures. Often roads, schools and health centres are extremely poor, with no clean water and poor sanitation.

Building Homes and Schools,  providing Infrastructure and Water

Volunteering on Construction in Uganda

There’s urgent need of volunteers to boost the basic facilities and infrastructure for the people in poverty stricken communities. Projects vary from constructing and repairing houses, schools, care and health centres, toilets, and clean water sources for deprived local people; to learning traditional building techniques as well as initiating new appropriate and environmental friendly building skills. IKPVA’s construction volunteer programs in Uganda offer participants both a valuable life-changing experience and an opportunity to make a difference.

Building Homes with Traditional Methods and Natural Materials

Volunteers in this field work in manual labour jobs alongside skilled and unskilled local builders to help with the construction work. The buildings are made using traditional methods and locally sourced materials. The construction techniques are also simple to master and are ideal for sites with limited facilities. No electricity is available at the site everything is done manually! Participants’ task can include digging foundations, mixing cement, building walls, constructing a roof either with grass or iron sheets/tiles, plastering, painting and white-washing, landscaping, digging of trenches, refurbishing sports fields, brick laying, and construction of local huts. Please note: volunteers do not need to be qualified or experienced to participate in these projects, however volunteers with special expertise are highly preferred.

Peru Construction Volunteer Program

Take part in the Peru Construction Volunteer Program and help to build family homes, schools or provide water supply.

According the number of volunteers and the needs of the community we work in schools, orphanages, family homes, and medical and community centres to improve the living conditions of the people living in underprivileged areas. We work alongside the community and families to help to promote social change and impact by working together. There are no words to describe the satisfaction of seeing the completion of a renovation project, and the effect that it has on the local people. This project is unique and rewarding as it offers volunteers the chance to see their immediate impact in the community in which they work.
