Volunteer in India with IKPVA bringing your love and affection to help us teach and play with disabled children.
The project is running in the Special Care Schools of India in Jaipur city. The project is a nonresidential program for mentally disabled children. All the children live in the nearby areas of the centers. There is a special schedule for the children in which all the activities have a special timing for each age group. Hundreds of children are getting benefits from the centres. All the children are divided into the groups (Classes) as per their mental level. These schools allow them to get an education and the children are enrolled in Open School Examination patter so that they get certificates of education. There are also some vocational training classes for them as well like cooking, using some machines like coffee machines, photo copiers, washing machines; also there are courses in typing practice, making handmade artisan products, etc. Volunteers will be expected to give one to one care and assistance to the children in teaching, training, exercise, sports, writing, speaking & other daily activities.
In this project your duties may include, but not limited to:
This is an incredible opportunity to share in the lives of some loving, gentle, deserving children and help to offer them a brighter future in spite of their disabilities. Be a childcare volunteer in Peru at a rural kindergarten. Work with children in Arequipa where we place volunteers in a Wawa Wasi (Quechua words meaning house of the kids). The Wawa Wasi National Peruvian Program provides comprehensive early childhood care in responding to the need for day care for children under 4, children of working mothers or parents. The program focuses particularly on girls and boys who are vulnerable, and/or are living in conditions of poverty or extreme poverty. The Management Committee and the Supervisory Board perform their tasks free of charge, providing their time and social commitment in support of the children of their community.
Working with these children is extremely worthwhile and will give you the opportunity to see life in a different way. Children assisting in this day care center have the chance to socialize, play and learn new skills in a safe area. These day care centers desperately need volunteers because they work with 8 children from 1 month to 4 years of age to each one care giver. Your role is to organize short indoor activities such as art & craft, reading fairytale stories, coloring, playing games, serving food, cleaning and tidying, etc.
Volunteers must have a lot of love and energy to give to these children, and can expect to receive the same in kind. A flexible attitude is also vital to making the most rewarding experience.

IKPVA Alumni talk about their experiences being a childcare volunteer abroad.
Just being there with the people was a life changing experience, I had the best time in Cannan Orphanage, the kids are the most beautiful kids I´ve ever seen, teaching them and playing with them was so fulfilling. Also the country is beautiful, in the weekends I would book tours and excursions around Mombassa and see everything Kenya has to offer. At the end I left like a different person, it was by far the best 4 months of my life.

Volunteer in Kenya helping us to care for our children.
The children in the orphanage range from a few months to teenagers. You will be able to offer your time via cooking, cleaning, bonding and offering a listening ear among others.
The children are eager to see you and will be looking forward to your visit every day. No experience required.
I was in Mombassa for around 4 months and I was nineteen years old. I didn’t know what to study yet or what to do with my life I had just finished high school. Just being there with the people was a life changing experience, I had the best time in Cannan Orphanage, the kids are the most beautiful kids I´ve ever seen, teaching them and playing with them was so fulfilling.
