I had a great time in Rio – Medical Volunteer

I had a great time in Rio learning about the culture and building relationships with the people in the Engenho de Rainha community. I worked with talented, passionate and hardworking health professionals who were willing to help and answer questions at all times. I really enjoyed being immersed in the community and learning about all aspects of the healthcare system in Rio de Janeiro in particular including the many challenges. This was an unforgettable experience I would highly recommend. – Jefrin

Medical Volunteer in Thailand

Volunteer on Healthcare in  Surin – Thailand

Work as a medical volunteer in Thailand – you will be placed into a small community hospital, comparable in size to most western clinics, situated in one of Thailand’s poorest provinces.

The clinic is responsible for maintaining the health and wellbeing of the local village community; approximately 7000 people, the majority of whom are from underprivileged backgrounds.

Your duties and responsibilities are subject to your competency and formal experience. Volunteers with formal medical experience will have the opportunity to practice non-intrusive care under the supervision of the Thai medical team.

The aim of this program is not intervention or bringing about major changes to the Thai medical system, but to build awareness of the complex healthcare issues of rural Thai communities and provide some support to the local staff in their work.

This experience provides a wonderful and culturally immersive adventure. We suggest that all volunteers have an open-mind to the practical and cultural differences you may encounter.

Note:

The medical experience is very popular. During peak times you may be divided into groups to experience multiple locations.

Meals:

Please budget US$ 10-15 per day for simple meals and more for socializing / trips away.

Volunteering in a Kathmandu Hospital – Nepal

It´s been a childhood dream of mine to visit Nepal and the neighboring region of Tibet.
Ikoporan in association with FDIP allowed me to join the wishes of helping others and getting to know such a different culture as the Nepalese is from the European.

In the Heart of Kathmandu

During my 3 week stay in Nepal I was very fortunate to be welcomed in a host nepalese family that not only demonstrated utmost kindness and generosity to me and my boyfriend, but also with whom I was able to learn about many customs and their meanings, cultural inheritance, frustrations and dreams in the heart of Kathmandu. I thank them for having enriched my experience in countless ways.

Volunteering in a Kathmandu Hospital – a great opportunity!

At the hospital I was able to exchange experiences and knowledge that was beneficial to both sides and was also extremely well integrated in the hospital routines. Thank You Manmohan Cardiothoracic Vascular and Transplant Center for this opportunity!!!

During the final days: Trekking in the Annapurna region, Nepal

Annapurna region - Nepal

Annapurna region – Nepal

The final days in Nepal I spent trekking in the Annapurna region and was blessed with the most breathtaking mountain landscapes I have ever seen!

All of these things were perfectly orchestrated with the help of Ikoporan and FDIP, and I will always be extremely grateful for that!!! Keep up the excellent work!!!!!

Working with the Red Cross in Rio – Valuable experience

Volunteering with Iko Poran is definitely one of the most amazing experience I ever had. The organization gives you the freedom to help in your own ways.
Working with kids was certainly a challenge but the support of other volunteers and people in charge of the projects make everything so much easier.

Volunteering in a health project

I also volunteered in a health project where people from the communities work together to inform people about important health issues.
My overall experience was amazing, I enjoy every second of it and I learned so much about the culture. Definitely a experience that will change your life.
