Lea describes her volunteer trip to India. When asked, if she could describe her experience with three words, she would say: “Incredible, unexpected and beautiful.” She enjoyed her trip to India from the beginning: at the airport pickup, the orientation, and the volunteer projects. She has been teaching English to children and met so many friendly people – they are unbelievable friendly, she says, and want us to discover the culture.
If you had a chance to describebe India with three words, what words would you use?
Incredible, unexpected and beautiful.
What made you smile in India?
The people are very friendly, especially to foreigners – sometimes they can be a little bit too friendly, but it’s OK. You get used to it, you can not like to be a star.
What makes us unique?
Listening to the people, they are giving us som tips and are helping us, they are very friendly, they want us discover the culture
What are the best Memories you take with you from your Project & us?
I would say everything, because it is very dificult for me to say, there is only one moment that is important, because for me it is all journey and I have a very big experience about it.

Volunteer with Women Empowerment in India with IKPVA providing sustainable development opportunities to girls and women.
In this project you will be placed in one of the local NGOs operating in the urban, semi-urban & rural areas of Jaipur. There, you will be working as avolunteer in the fields of awareness, counseling and empowerment of females.
All the projects provide sustainable development opportunities to girls and women – mothers, grandmothers and daughters – through education and motivation. There are regular rallies and marches to help raise awareness among women about their rights & justice. Seminars are organized to raise voices against domestic violence, eve-teasing (cat-calling) & harassment. Counseling surveys can be done to serve the purpose of the programs. There are regular classes to educate these women to make them self-independent. In India most of the women bear violence and harassment because of dependence on their husbands and fear for their families. So becoming self-dependent is the first step to stop all violence and harassment.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work alongside strong and effective women, helping in the process of improving the social position of the women and raising awareness of the importance of feminism in a country where many women are still very much treated as inferior. At the same time you will get to explore this beautiful country and the Indian way of life. This is your chance to make an impact in someone’s life. This project is perfect for anyone who believes in equality. Whoever you are you help will be very much appreciated!
Volunteer in India with IKPVA bringing your love and affection to help us teach and play with disabled children.
The project is running in the Special Care Schools of India in Jaipur city. The project is a nonresidential program for mentally disabled children. All the children live in the nearby areas of the centers. There is a special schedule for the children in which all the activities have a special timing for each age group. Hundreds of children are getting benefits from the centres. All the children are divided into the groups (Classes) as per their mental level. These schools allow them to get an education and the children are enrolled in Open School Examination patter so that they get certificates of education. There are also some vocational training classes for them as well like cooking, using some machines like coffee machines, photo copiers, washing machines; also there are courses in typing practice, making handmade artisan products, etc. Volunteers will be expected to give one to one care and assistance to the children in teaching, training, exercise, sports, writing, speaking & other daily activities.
